Libra The Sign Of Peace

Beauty: the combination of all the qualities of a person or thing that delight the senses and please the mind. After our foray into the persnickety world of Virgo we come to the next sign of the zodiac, Libra. On a certain level the qualities of a sign are in part a result of the sign before. So all of Virgo's hard work brings us to the 'as perfect as they come' sign of Libra.

Libra, the sign of the scales, is the epitome of beauty, fair of face, structurally symmetrical and quite amenable, having a Libra in your life can be quite pleasurable. Easy to look at, easy to be with and not apt to rock the boat, there is an ease and grace about this sign that makes them perfect partners.

In fact Libra is one of the sign associated with partnership. In Libra we learn how to relate to one another in an equal way. We learn that relating takes compromise (a co-promise) in order to succeed. So being in relationship with someone who is Libra, the sign of relationship should be a cake walk right? Well not quite.

There can be some difficulties.

First of all in Libra we are learning how to relate, so there is a learning curve, although you will probably find no one more committed to 'making it work' than Libra. Sometimes however, making it work takes precedent over everything else including good sense.

Codependency can be an issue for all of us, but especially for Libra. Sometimes Libras forget themselves in relationship. They can give their power away to keep the relationship or to keep the peace in a relationship. Being in relationship with someone who is disempowered is fun for no one.

Libra is the sign of Peace, but peace at any price is peace for no one. When you give too much of yourself up resentment can breed and resentment is ugly and Libras strongly dislike ugliness. Being a Libra is not easy. They just make it look easy. There is a constant struggle within the Libra to find balance. They act as bridges between the personal and the collective and this can be an unenviable position to be in.

Fostering balance for a Libra can occur in two ways, either through small incremental and constant adjustments, which takes a lot of mindfulness. Or through the balancing of extremes. We can often find Libra playing the devil's advocate. If a Libra feels that people are leaning too far one way, they will often take the totally opposite position to provide ballast.

As beautiful as the Libra is it belies a deep seeded strength, after all relating and being a peacemaker is not for sissies. Take Mahatma Gandhi, a man who suffered for peace, and started the whole nonviolence  revolution. And John Lennon, another great proponent of peace who asked us to 'Give Peace a Chance.' Both great souls and both gunned down. Being a peace maker is a dangerous job and yet their sojourn on the planet has shown us the way toward balance, peace and love.

So love and appreciate your Libras. Send them flowers, or jewelry as they love things of beauty. And cherish them for if you give, you will receive, guaranteed.  Treat them with fairness and kindness. They deserve the peace they struggle so hard to find and keep. They make this world a much kinder, gentler and more beautiful place.
